Hong Kong companies tapping into Guangxi's logistics sector: Puzhai border trade zone, Pingxiang
As China-Vietnam border trade gets ever busier, large amounts of finished products and farm produce are exported to Vietnam and elsewhere in Southeast Asia via Guangxi. These include home appliances and computer products from the Pearl River Delta region in Guangdong, textiles, light industrial goods, daily necessities and sundry hardware from the Yangtze River Delta region (including Jiangsu and Zhejiang), and temperate fruits from northwest and northern China. Merchants from all over China (except Tibet) are here to display, bargain, make deals and transfer goods. This makes Puzhai famous as one of China’s cross-border trade towns on the China-Vietnam border and has driven the development of tertiary industries such as transportation, catering and tourism at the border front. Here one can find four trade markets, specialised respectively in farm produce, fruits, redwood furniture and handicraft, and travel goods from Vietnam and the rest of ASEAN. In addition, there are more than 1,000 retail shops.
