Baise is located in the western part of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, bordering Guizhou Province, Yunnan Province and Vietnam.
Baise is linked with Nanning and Kunming, the capitals of Guangxi and Yunnan, by highways and railways that run through the city. The Baise Bama Airport also operates flights to major cities domestically.
With 64% of the city’s land covered by forests, Baise is rich in plants and animals that can be used for Chinese medicine. Moreover, Baise is famous for its subtropical fruits like mango and vegetables. Baise has the only state-level agricultural technology park to facilitate agricultural modernisation in Guangxi.
Baise is also rich in mineral resources such as bauxite, coal, copper, crystal, lignite, and gold. Prospective reserves of bauxite account for almost a quarter of China's total. Baise is planned to develop into an aluminium industry base in China.
Industry accounted for 44% of the GDP on 2015. Nonferrous metallurgy, in particular aluminum manufactured products and ore, is the major production in Baise. Other major industries include petrochemicals, energy, coal, manganese smelting, building materials, sugar production and paper.
