Binzhou is situated in the northern part of the Shandong Province. Numerous highways including the Jinan-Qingdao Highway and the Beijing-Binzhou Highway connect the city with Beijing, Tianjin and other cities in Jiangsu and Shandong.
Qingdao Port, the 5th largest in terms of container throughput in 2015 in China, is merely 3.5 hours' drive from the city. It takes only 1 hour to drive from Binzhou to the Jinan Airport and 3 hours to the Qingdao Airport.
Binzhou has abundant natural resources, including oil and natural gas. The city is an important exploration area of the Shengli Oilfield, the second largest oilfield in China.
Major industries in the city include textiles and garments, agricultural products processing, petroleum processing and chemicals. Major products are garments, coke, crude oil and cement. Leading enterprises include Befar Group, Weiqiao Textile, a listed company on Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Shandong Lubei Group, Qixing Group and Yuhua Group.
