General Introduction

Chengde is situated in the northeastern part of the Hebei Province. The city is accessible by three highways. Chengde airport also offers regular flights to Beijing.

The industry sector accounted for 40% of the GDP in 2015. Ferrous metals, electricity, equipment manufacturing and medicine are the major industries in the city. Leading enterprises include Chengde Jianlong Steel & Iron, a subsidiary of Beijing-based Jianlong Group.

The service sector accounted for 36% of the GDP in 2015. Tourism is the most important service sector. The city is famous for Chengde Mountain Resort and the Eight Outer Temples.
