Chuzhou lies on the Yangtze River in the eastern part of the Anhui Province. It is connected to major cities such as Hefei, Nanjing and Shanghai by a comprehensive transportation network.
Chuzhou is connected with the Nanjing Port (about 120km away) by the Bengbu Nanjing highway. Nanjing Lukou International Airport is located 100 km from the city, offering daily flights to most major cities in China.
Chuzhou has a significant industry sector which accounted for 44% of the GDP in 2015. Traditional industrial outputs of the city include wine, Chinese medicine and yarns.
In recent years, Chuzhou has attracted over 780 enterprises to invest in the production of electric home appliance, making the city an emerging home appliance manufacturing base in China. Bosch and Siemens, the two well-known electric home appliance enterprises in the world, have already set up electric home appliance factories in Chuzhou. Output value of home appliances in Chuzhou accounts for more than 30% of Anhui’s total.
Other industries include furniture, chemicals, non-metal product manufacturing, and equipment manufacturing. Major industrial enterprises in the city are Anhui Quanchai Group, Anhui Jinda Oil Company, and Anhui Tiankang Group. Anhui Quanchai, set up in 1949, is a state owned listed firm specializing in the production of harvest machines, farming machines, engineering and construction materials.
