Daqing, located in China's Harbin-Daqing-Qiqihar Industrial Corridor, ranked as the 49th most competitive city in China in 2016 according to the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
Daqing is designated as a regional hub in MOFCOM’s development plan (2015-2020) of distributive trade and logistics.
Daqing has the country’s largest oilfield, hence, is the most important city for petroleum extraction and the petrochemicals industry in China. It is named “City of Oil”. Total value-added of the industry sector accounted for 65% of the GDP. Apart from extraction of petroleum and natural gas, petrochemicals, Daqing has also developed agricultural product processing, building materials and equipment manufacturing.
