General Introduction

Guilin is situated in the northeast of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region along the Li River. It is designated as a regional hub in MOFCOM’s development plan (2015-2020) of distributive trade and logistics.

Guilin’s comprehensive transportation system includes many highways and railways that are connecting well with the national networks. Guilin Liangjiang International Airport offers flights to major cities in the region like Hong Kong, Macau, Bangkok and cities in China.

The city's seven pillar industries are equipment manufacturing, electronic information, auto and components manufacturing, food products, medicine and bioengineering, rubber products, and agricultural non-staple processing. The industry sector accounted for 38% of the GDP in 2015.

Service sector is an important sector to the city’s economy in which tourism is another pillar industry of the city. Guilin is a scenic town and one of the most famous tourist destinations in China. It boasts two national AAAAA level scenic spots – Guilin Merry Land Resort and the Li River.
