Jixi is seated in the southeastern part of the Heilongjiang Province.
Transportation in Jixi mainly relies on railways and highways. Trains are running from Jixi to Beijing, Harbin, Daqing and other cities in Heilongjiang Province. The Qiqihar Daqing Highway, the Chengzihe Peide Highway and State Highway 201 also connect the city with most cities in Northeast China.
Jixi is rich in mineral resources, such as coal, graphite and marble. Gaphite reserves in the city amount to 780 million tons, ranks first in Asia. Jixi is also rich in Chinese medicinal herbs and freshwater resources.
Due to the abundant mineral resources in Jixi, mining is a major industry. Other industries in Jixi include food manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, non-metal products, metallurgy, machinery, and electricity production.
