General Introduction

Lu’an lies in the western part of the Anhui Province, on the northern foot of the Dabie Mountain. Covering an area of 17,976 sq kilometres, Lu’an is the largest city in Anhui.

Lu’an is accessible by highways such as State Highway 312, State Highway 206 and State Highway 104 from Shanghai, Shandong and Jiangsu.

Lu’an has a large agricultural sector that accounted for 18% of the GDP in 2015. Major agricultural products include tea, fruits and grain like rice, wheat and corn. The city also grows textile materials like cotton and flax.

Industry accounted for 38% of the GDP in 2015. Attracted by the large agricultural sector and rich farm products, industries like machinery, textile and food processing have clustered in Lu’an. Major industry products of Lu’an are wine, tea and yarn.

Anhui Changjiang Agricultural equipment Co. Ltd, which is the largest listed agricultural equipment company in China, has set up a factory for walking tractor production in Lu’an. Ying Jia Group of Anhui Province, well-known for its wine production, also has a production base in Lu’an.

In 2014, Singapore Lian Huat Group invested RMB5 billion to develop ‘Lu’an Singapore Creative Ecological Industrial Park’ project in Lu’an. The project aims at building a fifth-generation ecological zone combined with industrial logistics, headquarter economy and commercial residential building with a balance of sustainable development.
