General Introduction

Qujing is located in the eastern part of the Yunnan Province. It is designated as a regional hub in MOFCOM’s development plan (2015-2020) of distributive trade and logistics. There are six well-established highways connecting Kunming with Qujing, and it can be reached by the Guiyang-Kunming Railway and Kunming-Nanning Railway.

Industry accounted for 31% of the GDP in 2015. Coal mining and dressing, tobacco and electricity are the major industries of the city.

There are four listed companies based in Qujing, including Yunnan Chihong Zinc & Germanium, Yunnan Luoping Zinc & Electricity, Yunnan Yunwei Company and Yunnan Malong Industry Group.

The service sector is also important to Qujing’s economy, accounting for 41% of the GDP in 2015. Tourism is the most important pillar of the service sector.
