General Introduction

Baishan is located in the southeastern part of the Jilin Province. The Siping-Baishan Highway connects the city with other parts of China through with the Shenyang-Dalian Expressway. A number of railways also run through the city.

Baishan is rich in natural resources and is one of the major timber producing areas in China. Proven reserves of coal in Baishan rank first in Jilin Province, while reserves of diatomite rank first in all of China. The famous Baishan Power Station and Yunfeng Power Station are located in the city.

Industry is the largest economic sector, accounting for 54% of the GDP in 2015. Major industries include pharmaceuticals, beverage, food manufacturing, mining, energy and metallurgy.
