General Introduction

Changde is seated in the northern part of the Hunan Province. It has efficient transportation network. The Changsha-Changde Expressway, State Highway 319 and State Highway 207 connect the city with other major cities throughout China. Changde Taohuayuan Airport also provides regular flights to major cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

Changde is an important crop and cotton production base in the Hunan Province. Major crops include rice and rapeseeds.

The industry sector is the major economic booster of Changde, accounting for 41% of the GDP in 2015. Attracted by abundant agricultural resources, food and textiles industries have been well developed. Other pillar industries include machinery, tobacco, aluminium and construction materials.
