Changzhou is situated in the southern part of the Jiangsu province. It ranked as the 25th most competitive city in China in 2016 according to the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
The city is easily accessible by highways and railways, including the Beijing-Shanghai Railway, the Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway and the Grand Canal. Changzhou Benniu Airport offers domestic routes to major cities in China.
Changzhou Port, one of the major inland river ports along the Yangtze River, provides cargo services to other cities and foreign countries.
The city has a significant industry sector that accounted for 43% of the GDP in 2015. Photovoltaic and electronics industry are the two dominant industries in economic growth. Machinery industry is another pillar industry in the city.
