Ezhou is seated in the eastern part of the Hubei Province, at the middle reaches of the Yangtze River.
The Wuchang-Jiujiang Railway runs across the city, connecting it with most cities in Hubei and Jiangxi. Ezhou also has convenient waterway transportation. Situated in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, it is 1,100 km from Chongqing and Shanghai by waterway.
The industry sector is the main economic contributor in Ezhou, comprising half of its GDP. Total industrial production amounted to RMB 129 billion in 2015. Pillar industries include textiles and garment, electronics, chemicals, equipment manufacturing and cement. Major foreign investors include Lafarge from France, McDonald’s from the U.S. and Foxconn from Taiwan.
