Fangchenggang is located in the southern part of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is designated as a regional hub in MOFCOM’s development plan (2015-2020) of distributive trade and logistics.
Dongxing, under the jurisdiction of Fangchenggang, is an important border city and trading port taking advantage of its favourable geographical location as the only port linking China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) by both land and water.
The Fangcheng Deep Water Port supports substantial commercial fishing enterprises in Guangxi.
Riding on the advantages of its ports, Fangchenggang’s industrial development has been focusing on heavy and chemical industries. Major industries include edible vegetable oil, sugar, steel, food and phosphoric acid. Total industrial production accounted for 50% of the GDP in 2015.
