Guiyang, located in the middle of Guizhou, on the eastern side of the Yungui Plateau, is the capital city of Guizhou Province. It is also a political, economic, technological, educational and cultural centre in Guizhou Province.
Guiyang is designated as a national hub in MOFCOM’s development plan (2015-2020) of distributive trade and logistics. Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport offers more than 40 domestic flights. Flights to Hong Kong, Macau and Bangkok are also available. Four railways intersect in Guiyang, linking the city with other major domestic cities.
The industry sector accounted for 25% of the GDP in 2015, led by tobacco, non-ferrous metallurgy, energy, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, rubber manufacturing, automobiles, ferrous metallurgy, food processing and nonmetallic mineral products.
The service sector accounted for 57% of the GDP in 2015 with tourism as the dominant industry. Guiyang is famous for its unique ethnic customs and natural scenery.
