General Introduction

Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture is located at the south of Qinghai Lake in the southeastern part of the Qinghai Province.

Transportation in Hainan mainly relies on highways. State Highway 109 (Qinghai-Tibet), State Highway 214 (Qinghai-Yunnan) and the Provincial Highways 101 connect Hainan with other cities.

Hainan has a significant agricultural sector which accounted for 22% of the GDP in 2015. Animal husbandry is the most important contributor of the agricultural sector. Major product is meat.

Hainan is rich in natural resources. Reserves of copper, tin, mercury, tungsten and marble ranked the first in the Qinghai Province.

The industry sector accounted for 32% of the GDP in 2015. Electricity, pharmaceuticals, textile, agricultural products processing and metallurgy are the major industries. Major products include iron, milk and Tibetan medicine.
