General Introduction

Huanggang, located in the eastern part of the Hubei Province, is part of the Wuhan City Cluster. Wuhan City Cluster was approved as an experimental zone for energy saving and environmentally friendly projects by the National Development & Reform Commission in 2007.

Huanggang is easily accessible by air and railways. It takes less than 1.5 hours to drive from Huanggang to Wuhan Tianhe Airport or Jiujiang Airport in Jiangxi. The Beijing-Kowloon Railway, the Hefei-Jiujiang Railway, the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway and the Shanghai-Wuhan Railway all run through the city, forming a convenient railway system.

Huanggang has a rather important agricultural sector which accounted for 24% of its GDP. It is a major crop and edible-oil plant base in Hubei Province.

Food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, textiles, construction materials and machinery are the pillar industries in the city. Leading enterprises are China Huiyuan Juice Group Ltd, Yili and Aokang. Huiyuan Juice Group Ltd, founded in Beijing, is the largest juice maker in China.

Huanggang has also attracted DuPont, the world's leading biotechnological products producer and supplier, to invest in projects in Huanggang.
