Huangshan is the southernmost city in the Anhui Province. The Huangshan Tunxi International Airport, merely 5.5 km from the downtown area, offers daily flights to Hong Kong and other major cities in China. Huangshan is also connected with other major cities in China by trains.
Tourism is a major contributor to Huangshan’s economy. Mount Huangshan is one of China's most notable mountains.
The industry sector accounted for 31% of the GDP in 2015. Major industries include beverages, textile, mechanical and electrical equipment manufacturing, chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing.
The abundant raw materials and resources such as gingko, pines and limestone have attracted manufacturing enterprises to set up production in Huangshan. The leading industrial enterprises in Huangshan include Huangshan Yongjia Group, Huangshan Jinma, Huangshan City Auto Electric Appliances and Anhui Hengyuan Chemicals. Huangshan Yongjia is a state owned company specializing in printing, pharmaceutical packaging, food packaging, and new materials, while Huangshan Jinma is a listed auto, auto parts and motor parts maker in Huangshan.
Huangshan Hualan Technology, a Hong Kong-Sino joint venture in Huangshan City, enjoys a large market share in friction material area in China.
