General Introduction

Jingmen, lying at the western bank of the Han River, is located in the central part of the Hubei Province.

The city is easily accessible by railways and highways. The Taiyuan-Macau Highway, the Hangzhou-Lanzhou Highway, the Jingmen-Wuhan Highway and the Jiaozuo-Liuzhou Railway go through the city, linking the city with other major domestic cities.

Though the primary sector accounted for only 15% of the GDP, Jingmen is an agricultural base in Hubei. Major products include crops, cotton and edible oil.

Petrochemicals, machinery, food and beverages and construction materials are the pillar industries in the city. Examples of large industrial enterprises in the city include Sinopec, J.S. Machine, Chero Beer, Gezhouba Cement Plant and Jingmen Oil Refining Plant which is a subsidiary under Sinopec, the largest oil refiner in China.
