Jinhua is located in the central part of the Zhejiang Province. Yiwu Market, the largest wholesale market of general merchandise in China, is located in Yiwu, a county level city of Jinhua.
Jinhua is designated as a regional hub in MOFCOM’s development plan (2015-2020) of distributive trade and logistics. Apart from a number of highways and railways, the Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport and the Yiwu Airport are within 1 hour’s drive from Jinhua's city center.
Animal husbandry is a major industry in Jinhua with pork as the major product. The city is well-known for its ham.
The city's major industries are metal products, textiles, transportation equipment manufacturing, electrical machine manufacturing, chemicals, and arts and crafts. The overall industry sector accounted for 39% of the city’s GDP in 2015. Leading enterprise is Hengdian Group.
Tourism is a pillar service industry. Major scenic spots in Jinhua include Duke Shi's Palace of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, Shuanglong Cave and Fangyan Cliff.
