Kizilsu Kirgiz Autonomous Prefecture is located in the western part of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
Kizilsu is rich in natural resources such as coal, copper, lead, zinc, iron, phosphorus, lapis lazuli, limestone, gypsum, clay, zeolite, marble, salt, rock salt and Glauber's salt.
Transportation in Kizilsu mainly relies on highways and railways that connect it with other cities, such as Urumqi and Turpan.
Major industries in Kizilsu include iron ore, crude mine, cement, electricity and chemical materials.
Since Kizilsu is located in the gateway of the ancient Silk Road, it is rich in tourist attractions, such as the Buddhist Sanxian Cave and the Ruins of the Palace of Kalahan Dynasty. Tourism industry develops rapidly in the city.
