General Introduction

Laiwu is located in the central part of the Shandong Province. It is connected with other major cities by a number of highways, including the Bejing-Fuzhou Highway and the Beijing-Shanghai Highway.

Laiwu has plentiful natural resources, such as fresh water and minerals. It is also rich in iron ore, gold, copper and lime.

Industry is the economic driver to the city, accounting for 46% of the GDP in 2015. Due to the abundant mineral resources, Laiwu's pillar industry is steel and iron, metallurgy. Other major industries include pharmaceuticals, food processing, textiles, construction materials and petrochemicals. Leading industrial enterprises in the city include Laigang Group, Taishan Steel and Iron Group and Wanxing Group.
