General Introduction

Liupanshui is located in the western part of the Guizhou Province. Liupanshui is one of the railway hub cities in southwestern China. It can be easily reached by four railways, including the Liupanshui-Zhuzhou Railway, the Liupanshui-Baiguo Railway, the Neijiang-Kunming Railway and the Guiyang-Kunming Railway. The city is designated as a regional hub in MOFCOM’s development plan (2015-2020) of distributive trade and logistics.

Industry accounted for 44% of the GDP in 2015. Major industries include coal mining, electricity, iron and steel and building materials. Guizhou Panjiang Refined Coal is an example of a Shanghai-listed company invested in Liupanshui.

The service sector is also important to Liupanshui’s economy, accounting for 39% of the city's GDP in 2015. Transportation and logistics is one of the major service sectors in the city.
