General Introduction

Maoming is located in the southwestern part of the Guangdong Province. It has a well-established railway networks with the Sanshui-Maoming Railway, the Hechun-Maoming Railways and the Liuzhou-Zhanjiang Railway passing through the city. It is also accessible by a number of highways including State Highway 207, State Highway 325 and the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang Highway.

The Maoming Port, being a Grade I port, plays an important role for the development of the city’s oil refining and petrochemical industries.

Maoming has a large agricultural sector. Its production of fruits such as banana, lychee and longan, grains and meat are the highest in the province.

Service sector has a significantly large contribution to Maoming’s GDP, accounting for 43% in 2015. Wholesale and distribution are well developed.

Industry accounted for 37% of Maoming’s GDP in 2015. Petroleum refining, petrochemicals, raw chemicals and chemical products, mining and agricultural products processing are the major industries in the city. Major companies including Sinopec (Maoming) Company and Highsun Yongye (Group) Co Ltd have operated their business in the city.
