General Introduction

Ordos is located in the southwest of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The city is designated as a regional hub in MOFCOM’s development plan (2015-2020) of distributive trade and logistics. The Ordos Airport operates flights to major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Hohhot and Xi'an. Besides, a number of railways and highways connect Ordos with cities such as Hohhot, Baotou, Beijing, Tianjin and Xi'an.

Ordos is rich in natural resources including coal, oil, natural gas, trona, sodium sulfate, salt, and sulfur. In addition, Ordos has its own unique local products, cashmere.

The industry sector accounted for 50% of the GDP in 2015. Ordos's pillar industries are coal, electricity, chemicals, metallurgy and textiles. Major product includes cashmere products.
