Qingyuan is a city in the northern part of the Guangdong province, at the northern end of the Pearl River Delta.
The well-established highway network connects Qingquan with Guangzhou, Foshan and Shenzhen. It is also accessible by high speed railway. Domestic and international flight services are available at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport which is 28 km from the city.
Qingyuan is rich in porcelain clays, limestone, coal, sulfuric iron ore, zinc and copper reserves, providing resources to pillar industries including equipment manufacturing, non-ferrous metal processing and power industry.
Other industries developed in the city include electronic information, pharmaceuticals, textiles and garments, food and beverages, construction materials and wooden products manufacturing.
Industrial enterprises including Qingyuan Guangshuo Shoe Making Company and Guangdong Shine Cables are the representatives in the city. Hong Kong invested Qingyuan Guangshuo Shoe Making Company is the OEM factory of Nike, the world famous sportswear maker.
The service sector is the largest component of Qingyuan’s economy, accounting for 47% of the GDP in 2015. Tourism is a major industry given the famous temples, hot springs and historical buildings in the city.
