Qinhuangdao is situated in the northeastern part of the Hebei province.
Qinhuangdao is designated as a regional hub in MOFCOM’s development plan (2015-2020) of distributive trade and logistics. It is linked with other major cities in China by railways. Shanhaiguan Airport offers domestic flight service. Port of Qinghuangdao, a seaport on the Bohai sea, is a major port for coal transportation.
The industry sector accounted for 29% of the GDP in 2015. Major industries include glass manufacturing, metal pressing, machinery and food processing. Yaohua Glass, China Railway Shanhaiguan Bridge Corp, Shanhaiguan Shipbuilding and Bohai Aluminum are examples of major enterprises in the city.
