General Introduction

Quanzhou lies between Putian and Xiamen in the southeastern part of the Fujian Province.

Quanzhou was ranked the 37th most competitive Chinese city in 2016 according to the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. It has an efficient multimodal transportation system and is designated as a regional hub in MOFCOM’s development plan (2015-2020) of distributive trade and logistics.

While Quanzhou is linked to Fuzhou and Xiamen by highway, its Jinjiang Airport provides regular flights to most cities in China. Besides, Quanzhou has an international port serving both passenger and cargo ships to other mainland seaports as well as Hong Kong and Japan.

Quanzhou is the largest manufacturing base in the Fujian province and is well known for its private enterprises. The industry sector accounted for 54% of the city’s GDP in 2015.

Quanzhou's traditional industries include textiles and garments, footwear, building materials, food processing, handworks and machinery. The textile and garment industry is its most competitive industry, famous brands include K-boxing (勁霸), Lilanz (利郎), Anta (安踏), Peak (匹克), Xtep (特步), Septwolves (七匹狼), etc.

Both Shishi and Jinjiang which are famous for the textiles, garment and footwear industries were selected the top 100 counties in 2016.

Quanzhou's newly-emerging industries include petrochemicals, electronics, automobiles and auto parts, shipbuilding, and biopharmaceuticals. Fujian Refining & petrochemical Company is the largest investment in the city’s petrochemical industry, with an annual refining capability of 12 million tons.
