General Introduction
Shenyang is the capital city of the Liaoning Province, acting as a transportation hub with railways and highways radiating out from the city to other major cities and provinces. It is designated as a national hub in MOFCOM’s development plan (2015-2020) of distributive trade and logistics.
Shenyang Taoxian International Airport offers 63 domestic routes and 11 international routes to Tokyo, Sapporo, Seoul and Russia, etc.
Shenyang is also an educational hub in Northeastern China. It is home to the renowned North-Eastern University, which has provided an excellent pool of engineers for the industry sector.
It ranked as the 23rd most competitive city in China in 2016, according to the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
Shenyang is the largest industrial production base in Liaoning. Machinery and equipment is the largest industrial sector, accounting for some 50% of the total value added of the industry sector. Other major industries in Shenyang include automobiles and auto-parts, pharmaceuticals and chemicals, agricultural products-processing, non-ferrous metallurgy and construction materials.
