General Introduction

Wulanchabu is located in the middle part of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

Transportation in Wulanchabu mainly relies on railways and highways. Four railways and a number of highways connect the city with major domestic cities, such as Beijing, Baotou. The Jining-Erenhot Railway connects to railways of Mongolia and extends to European countries.

Wulanchabu has a rather small but significant primary sector which accounted for 15% of the city’s economy in 2015. Wulanchabu is replete with various natural resources, such as forest, grassland, minerals, and solar and wind energy.

Industry accounted for 43% of the GDP in 2015. Major industries are electricity, building materials, chemical, agricultural and livestock products processing, equipment manufacturing and metallurgical industry.
