Wuzhou is located in the eastern part of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, bordering Guangdong Province.
Wuzhou has effective transportation networks. The Wuzhou Changzhoudao Airport, 4 km from the downtown area, operates flights to major cities in China. Highways, expressways connect Wuzhou with Guilin and Guangzhou. In addition, Wuzhou Port on the Xi River is the second largest inland river port in southern China after Guangzhou Huangpu Port.
Wuzhou is a national production base for commodity grain, timber and resin. Forests cover 72.7% of the city's lands.
Wuzhou has a long history of industrial production. Major industries include agricultural products processing, ferrous metallurgy, nonferrous metallurgy, electricity and heat supply, wood processing, metal products and equipment manufacturing. Total industrial production accounted for 53% of the GDP in 2015.
