General Introduction

Xiangtan is located in the central part of the Hunan Province. It is part of Chang-Zhu-Tan City Cluster (Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan), which is a national comprehensive supporting reform area in which industrialisation and urbanisation will be given due emphases on resources conservation and environmental protection.

The city is easily accessible by the Changsha-Xiangtan Highway, State Highway 107 and State Highway 320. Changsha Huanghua Airport, 60km from Xiangtan's downtown area, offers over 50 domestic flight routes to major cities in China.

The city has a broadly based and diversified industry sector. New energy, auto and auto parts, machinery, electronics, metallurgy, crude steel and steel products, electronic appliances, equipment manufacturing, chemicals, textiles and agricultural products processing are the major industries. The whole industry sector accounted for 50% of the GDP in 2015.
