General Introduction

Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture is located in the northwestern part of the Hunan Province. Transportation in Xiangxi mainly relies on railway. Regular trains from Xiangxi Railway Station connect the city with other major cities in Hunan Province.

The industry sector accounted for 26% of the GDP in 2015. Mining, pharmaceuticals and food are the major industries in the prefecture. The prefecture’s major industrial products are manganese products, iron alloy products, Chinese medicinal herb tablets and construction materials.

The service industry is the largest sector of Xiangxi’s economy, accounting for 53% of the GDP in 2015. Tourism is the dominant service sector. Famous tourism attraction includes the Phoenix Town (Feng Huang Cheng), which has a profound history, renowned culture, colourful ethnic customs and splendid scenery.
