General Introduction

Yangzhou lies in the center of the Jiangsu Province. It ranked as the 41st most competitive city in China in 2016 according to the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

The city can be reached by highways and railways. The Beijing-Shanghai Expressway and the Nanjing-Nantong Expressway shorten the time from the city to Beijing, Shanghai and Nanjing. The Yangzhou Railway offers train service to major cities in China.

With the development of four major industries including machinery, automobile, petrochemicals and shipping, the industry sector has been the most significant part to Yangzhou’s economy. The whole industry sector accounted for 44% of its GDP in 2015.

Yangzhou is an important petrochemicals base in Jiangsu, attracting lots of petrochemical enterprises, such as PetroChina, Sinopec Yizheng Chemical Fiber Co. Ltd, Toray Industries, Dairen Chemicals, to operate businesses there.
