Yinchuan, the capital of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, is well-known as a national historical and cultural city in China.
Yinchuan is designated as a national hub in MOFCOM’s development plan (2015-2020) of distributive trade and logistics. The Yinchuan Hedong Airport connects to over twenty cities. The Baotou-Lanzhou railway and Baoji-Zhongwei railway run through the Yinchuan Railway Station. Approximately thirty long-distance bus routes travel to every city or county of Ningxia, as well as to some areas of Inner Mongolia and the Shaanxi Province.
The industrial sector accounted for 48% of the GDP in 2015. Eight major industries in Yinchuan include petroleum coke processing, chemical products manufacturing, textiles, rubber products manufacturing, communication equipment manufacturing, coal mining and processing, pharmaceuticals as well as electrical and heating power supply. Major product is crude coal.
Yinchuan has large service sector mainly due to its tourism industry. Tourist attractions include Sha lake, Jinshui tourist area and Suyukou National Forest Park.
