Yunfu is located in the central western part of the Guangdong Province. It is accessible by a comprehensive highway and railway network.
Yunfu Port, consisting of Liudu Port, Ducheng Port, Nanjiangkou Port and Duqi Port, has an annual cargo handling capacity of 3.5 million tons.
Yunfu is rich in mineral resources including sulphur and sillimanite, which rank the top in reserves in the Guangdong Province.
The city is traditionally an agricultural-based economy. In 2015, agriculture accounted for 21% of its GDP. Major products are grains and fruits.
Industry accounted for 37% its GDP in 2015. Stone, stainless steel products and electricity are pillar industries in the city.
