General Introduction

Zhangzhou is located by the coast in the southern part of Fujian. Apart from the port, Zhangzhou is easily accessible by highways and railways. Zhangzhou is designated as a regional hub in MOFCOM’s development plan (2015-2020) of distributive trade and logistics.

The agricultural sector is essential to Zhangzhou, comprising 13% of the city’s GDP. Zhangzhou has the largest plain in Fujian and is well known for its agricultural products. Besides, Dongshan Bay, located in the city, is one of the most important bays in Fujian as it provides abundant marine products.

Benefiting from the city’s abundant marine food and grain output, food processing has become Zhangzhou’s largest industry. Famous food processing companies include the Zishan Group Corp and Tongfa Food. The overall industry sector accounted for 40% of Zhangzhou’s GDP in 2015.

The service sector mainly focuses on tourism industry. Zhangzhou’s food and splendid history have become attractions for tourism. Zhangzhou’s food is commonly classified as Min Cuisine.
