General Introduction

Zhongshan lies on the western side of the Pearl River Delta. The city is accessible by a number of highways and ferry services. Zhongshan port is a major port in the Guangdong Province, providing daily ferry service to Hong Kong.

Zhongshan ranked the 27th among the top 100 most competitive cities in China by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in 2016.

The industry sector accounted for 52% of the GDP in 2015. Pillar industries in the city include electronic information, textiles, electric machinery, chemicals and metal products manufacturing. Zhongshun Group, Vatti, Victoria Harbour Restaurant Group and China Chant are examples of leading private enterprises in the city.

Zhongshan’s services sector is also well developed. In particular the city is famous for its wholesale distribution of lighting products and furniture.
