Zhuzhou is located in the eastern part of the Hunan province, it is designated as a regional hub in MOFCOM’s development plan (2015-2020) of distributive trade and logistics. Three railways – Beijing-Guangzhou, Zhejiang-Jiangxi and Hunan-Guizhou – run across the city. The Changsha Huanghua International Airport can be reached within 40 minutes by car.
Zhuzhou is one of the three key cities in the Chang-Zhu-Tan (Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan) Economic Integration Area that was approved as one of six national high-tech industrial bases by the State Council of China. It would promote the development of IT, bio-engineering, civil aviation, new materials and new energy in the future.
The industry sector accounted for 51% of the GDP in 2015. The six major industries in the city are transportation equipment manufacturing, chemicals, nonferrous metallurgy, non-metallic mineral products, food processing, and metal product manufacturing.
