Enquiry: What are the Advantages of Importing Food Products or Cosmetics via China’s Pilot Free Trade Zones?
The import and export facilitation measures on offer vary across the individual Pilot Free Trade Zones (FTZs), inevitably resulting in differences in overall customs processing times. In the case of the Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone, the local Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau has adopted an electronic information system as the basis for optimising the efficiency of its inspection and quarantine procedures. Under this system, businesses that have been accorded trusted status, based on their track record of past compliance with all food, food additives or cosmetics import protocols, are eligible for pre-shipment inspection and quarantine assessments with regard to any such items importing into China via the Shanghai FTZ. While not compromising on safety or product quality issues, these preferential measures are designed to ensure that all such imports may be processed with the maximum efficiency within the FTZ.
