Is it necessary to compete any record-filing procedures prior to importing food to China?
Before importing standard food items to China, the overseas manufacturers, exporters and agents and the domestic importers of the products must complete the relevant record-filing procedures with the General Administration of Customs (formerly the General Administration for Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, or AQSIQ) (http://ire.customs.gov.cn/). Additionally, they must complete the mandatory inspection, quarantine and customs clearance declarations in accordance with the prevailing requirements at the time of import. The consignors / agents of the imported food must then include the name, record-filing number and any other information deemed relevant with regard to the food importers / exporters on the inspection and quarantine declaration form when declaring any such items for inspection / quarantine.
Please contact the State Administration for Market Regulation for further details.
