Q: What Are China’s Current Import Duty Rates on Wine?

A: Currently, China levies three taxes on bottled wine imports, namely customs duty, value-added tax (VAT) and consumption tax.

Prevailing rates of tax (payable in Rmb) on bottled wine imports:

1. Customs duty: 14%
CIF x 14%

2. VAT: 17%
[CIF + customs duty] x 17%

3. Consumption tax: 10%
[(CIF + customs duty) / (1-10%)] x 10%
