Q: What Inspection is Required for Importing Cheese to China?

A: China has implemented a multi-tiered supervision system to ensure the quality and safety of imported dairy products and to regulate the administration of such products. A registration system took effect from May 2013 for those foreign food manufacturing enterprises exporting dairy products to China, while a filing system has also been imposed on foreign dairy product exporters and their agents. Three categories of dairy products are now subject to quarantine examination and approval, and may only be imported after obtaining a Licence for the Quarantine of Entry Animals and Plants of the People's Republic of China. For details, please read The mainland inspection and quarantine regime for all dairy imports.
