Which animals / plants are individuals prohibited from conveying in or out of – or posting to and from – China?
According to standing mainland regulatory requirements, the following items cannot be posted or conveyed in or out of China:
- Animals and Animal Products
Live animals (except cats and dogs – see Note below), raw / cooked meats and their derivatives, aquatic animal products, animal-derived milk and milk products, eggs and their derivatives, bird’s nest products (except canned bird’s nests)
- Plants and Plant Products
Fresh fruits and vegetables, tobacco leaves, seeds / seedlings and any other plant materials that may later be cultivated
Biomaterials, such as animal / plant pathogenic micro-organisms (including bacterial or viral seed cultures), blood and blood derivatives, animal carcasses / specimens, soil and genetically-modified biomaterials
Such restrictions, however, do not apply to any animals, plants, derivatives or other items approved by the relevant national administrative department and issued a quarantine certificate by the appropriate authority in their country or territory of origin or of most recent residence.
[Note: Each individual is only allowed to convey one pet, such as a cat or a dog, which is the subject of the required animal quarantine and vaccination certificate, as issued by the appropriate authority in their country or territory of origin or of most recent residence]
