Further Details Announced of Xiongan New Area Development Plan

The State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) has published 11 recommendations relating to the development of the Xiongan New Area, a key element in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei economic triangle, in its recently-published Several Opinions on Supporting the Planning and Development of the Xiongan New Area in Hebei.

Among its recommendations are those relating to business registration, day-to-day supervision, trademark-related intellectual property rights and the development of the advertising sector within the Xiongan New Area. More specifically, the Opinions state that both China Xiongan and Xiongan are protected words that cannot be registered as trademarks. In the case of those government departments responsible for the industrial and commercial administration of the Xiongan New Area, as well as for overall market supervision, it recommends the use of the term Hebei Xiongan for administrative purposes, while those companies operating in the New Area may use the same as the prefix for their company names, assuming they remain in compliance with all of the relevant regulations.
