Guangdong Issues 13th Five-Year Plan for Cold Chain Logistics Sector

The 13th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Cold Chain Logistics has been released by Guangdong’s Department of Commerce. Under the terms of the plan, a new emphasis has been placed on the development of cold chain logistics in the fresh agricultural produce and food sectors, while the development of similar facilities for e-commerce operators in the food, pharmaceuticals and fresh agricultural produce sectors has also been prioritised. Overall, the plan calls for the optimisation of the regional logistics network and the establishment of a full cold chain logistics and traceability system. The ultimate objective is to raise the overall cold chain circulation rate from its present level of 19% to 25% by 2020, while lowering the circulation wastage rate from its current level of 17% to just 10% by 2020.
