Guangdong Updates List of Investment Sectors Requiring Official Approval

An updated list of the projects requiring official approval prior to investment being secured has been issued by Guangdong’s provincial government. Among the sectors designated as requiring formal clearance are any projects related to agriculture, water conservation, energy, transportation or information distribution.

In the case of any sector not listed, the enterprises concerned are only obliged to maintain and file the mandatory records, while also ensuring compliance with the relevant planning, industrial and access requirements. In addition, industry regulators will now work closely with the relevant supervisory departments responsible for urban / rural planning, land management, environmental protection and overall safety regulation in order to monitor all such projects and to provide any guidance deemed necessary.

The new list – The Catalogue of Guangdong Province Investment Projects Subject to Government Approval (2017) – came into effect on 2 November 2017 and superseded all previous lists.
