Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Residents Allowed to Apply for Mainland Residence Permit
As of 1 September, Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan residents who have lived in mainland China for six months or more – providing they meet certain other requirements – are eligible to apply for a residence permit, according to recent regulations announced by the General Office of the State Council. Upon granting of the residence permit, the permit holders will be given access to three basic rights, six services and nine further facilitation measures, including social insurance, employment, education and medical care.
