Separate Strategies Announced for Zhuhai and Dongguan E-Commerce Pilot Zones

Guangdong’s Provincial Government has formalised distinct development strategies for the Zhuhai and Dongguan Cross-border E-commerce Pilot Zones, which will see both facilities build upon their existing strengths, while targetting separate – but complementary – objectives.

For its part, the Zhuhai Zone will focus on building trade ties between the mainland and the Portuguese speaking countries. This will see it leverage the strategic advantages of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge and the Hengqin Area of the China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone. Ultimately, as a core element of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Cross-border E-commerce Ecosystem, it will be at the forefront of driving cross-border e-commerce co-operation between China and the Portuguese-speaking/Latin American countries.

By contrast, the Dongguan Zone will be transformed into a cross-border supply, logistics, innovation and entrepreneurship hub, while also forming the nexus of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Bay Area import and export platform. It is also envisaged that it will play a key role in developing innovative e-commerce financial services, constructing any required cross-border e-commerce infrastructure and expanding the overall level of cross-border e-commerce imports.
